Our Mission

The mission of the Lake Wales Police Department is to serve our community with integrity, compassion, and professionalism. We are dedicated to preventing crime, upholding the law, and fostering trust through meaningful partnerships. By working collaboratively with residents, businesses, and local organizations, we strive to create a safer, stronger Lake Wales and enhance the quality of life for all who live, work, and visit here.

About the Department

Established in 1917 following the City’s Charter of Incorporation by the Florida Legislature, the Lake Wales Police Department began with a single Town Marshal dedicated to protecting a population of just 250 residents. Over the years, the department has grown alongside the community and has been widely recognized for its commitment to quality, professional and accountable law enforcement service. Today, the Lake Wales Police Department is comprised of 47 sworn law enforcement officers—including 4 K-9 units—and 10 dedicated civilian staff members. Together, they work to protect and serve a growing community of over 17,000 residents, maintaining a strong commitment to public safety and community partnership.
