Throughout the 20th century thousands of individuals have served and continue to serve in the United States military. From volunteers to required service, many past and present residents of Lake Wales were part of major US military operations, battles and world wars. To honor and learn from these individuals, the Lake Wales Museum will host an exhibit of military uniforms, weaponry, insignia, medals and other objects from military history. Objects on displays are from the Lake Wales Museum permanent collection of military items, pieces on loan from the community, and are interpreted by the museum curator, Bartholomew Delcamp.
The exhibit is free to the public, and the Lake Wales Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This exhibit is made possible by the City of Lake Wales and sponsored in part by the Florida Humanities Council with funds from the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture and Visit Central Florida.
