City of Lake Wales staff captured two prestigious awards by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA): Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and Distinguished Budget Presentation.
“Our Finance Department works diligently each year and is proud to consistently receive the GFOA awards, which reflect the high standards, accuracy, and the dedication of our team,” Vanessa Avellaneda, assistant finance director said.
The City was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended September 30, 2024. The report met the GFOA’s high standards, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award was received for meeting fourteen mandatory criteria within four categories: policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. This marks the sixth consecutive year this award was received by staff.
