Tiger Creek Preserve
Experience the Lake Wales Ridge and its ancient scrub habitat at Tiger Creek Preserve. It comprises a variety of wet bayheads to high and dry sandhills, unique native plants, and listed wildlife.
The preserve features three hiking trails that meander through 10 miles of the 4,800-acre preserve. Embark on a journey and explore the hardwood swamps, hammocks, scrubby flatwoods, pine flatwoods, sandhill and longleaf pine/wiregrass habitat. And catch a glimpse of endemic wildlife and 15 rare native plants only found on the Lake Wales Ridge. Listed wildlife: Florida scrub-jay, Florida sand skink, Florida mouse, blue calamintha bee, and Highlands’s tiger bee. Native plants: Avon Park harebells, scrub blazingstar, scrub mint, pygmy fringe-tree, and Florida ziziphus.

Lake Kissimmee State Park
Florida's heritage comes alive with living history demonstrations of the early Florida cow hunters in an 1876-era cow camp.
Lake Kissimmee State Park offers park-goers 5,930 acres of fun and 13 miles of trails. It's surrounded by picturesque lakes, native plants, and wildlife, such as white-tailed deer, gopher tortoises, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and turkeys. The park has full-facility campsites for glamping and primitive camping. The youth camping area can accommodate up to 50 people. Visitors participate in boating, paddling, fishing, hiking, and picnicking.

Oakley Park
Nestled in the downtown historic district lies Oakley Park. It’s a good spot to take selfies and group photos. Oakley Park is a pollinator and sculpture garden. It features a winding sidewalk that weaves in and around many types of pollinators plants. Other features include gazebos, lighting, and a 10-foot Disneyesque butterfly topiary.
