City Nature Challenge, Nature Conservancy

City Administration Posted on April 12, 2023

Participate in the City Nature challenge between April 28th to May 1st. The challenge is free and sponsored by the The Nature Conservancy.

The City Nature Challenge is an international competition to see how many plant and animals our community members can document using iNaturalist, a convenient and easy to use mobile app. Download it from the Google Play or the Apple App Store.

The first 25 people to get more than 25 identifications on iNaturalist will win a PRIZE from The Nature Conservancy! All you have to do is email v.a.hamilton@TNC.ORG your iNaturalist account name! (Note: Only observations made in Polk County between April 29th – May 1st will count.)

Participation is easy. It can be done in your own backyard, at the park, or even at Tiger Creek Preserve! We challenge you to take pictures of native plants and animals you see in Polk County and then upload them to iNaturalist.

There is a really awesome Education Toolkit to help youth and others who are not familiar with iNaturalist to participate:
