Frequently Asked Questions - Lake Wales Family Recreation Center

City Administration Posted on August 17, 2023

City staff assume operations of the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center on November 1 after the West Central Florida YMCA departs in October.

How do I register for a membership?

Citizens may register for a membership starting October 1. Select membership joiner’s fees will be waived for all members beginning October 1 through January 31. An Internet registration link will be provided on the City's webpage and social media platforms on October 1.

Will my current membership automatically transfer to the City's membership database?

Existing members must reregister in the City's membership database beginning October 1.

Will the cost of membership stay the same? Yes. All citizens are welcome to join the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center. There are two membership rates, City residents and non-city residents. The residential address on a City utility bill or electric bill validates city residents. The residential address will be verified on the property appraiser's website to confirm the address is within the city limit. Membership rates are accessible at the link below.

Will my SilverSneakers membership apply to the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center membership?

We're working towards continuing the service of the SilverSneakers Program. We’re also exploring adding Active&Fit memberships.

Will the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center offer Les Mills fitness classes?

We're working towards continuing the service of Les Mills fitness classes.

A celebration ceremony and pool party-themed fall festival are scheduled to take place. Details will be available on the City’s website and social media.
