Kajsa Newton
Meet Program Coordinator, Kajsa Newton. A graduate from St. Mary's College of Maryland with two Bachelor’s degrees – one in Environmental Science and the other in Biology. Newton develops educational programming related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math – STEAM programming. “I’m looking forward to applying my knowledge in STEAM related courses to citizens,” Newton said. “It’s exciting to provide an educational service to the community.” Conceptual plans for programming may include classes on wildlife and plant identification, coupled with scouting excursions where members can identify the various species in-person. Healthier eating classes and gardening tutorials are also being reviewed as options. Newton is finalizing the schedule of programming and plans to share it on the City’s website and social media platforms.
Reiny Parrado
Welcome Wellness & Membership Coordinator, Reiny Parrado. A graduate from North Carolina State University, Parrado oversees the membership experience and the team at the front desk. He manages the fitness class schedules and instructors. He also oversees the gym. Parrado is an experienced trainer and has coached professional athletes. “I like sharing my knowledge and coaching tips with members,” Parrado said. While in college, Parrado studied Kinesiology which includes musculoskeletal anatomy (form), neuromuscular physiology (function) and biomechanics.
Amy Ortiz
Introducing, Recreation Division Manager, Amy Ortiz. A student at the University of Florida, studying sociology. Ortiz manages the daily operations of the recreation center. “My goal is to offer citizens a great experience in a quality facility,” Ortiz said. She has more than 12 years’ experience in Parks & Recreation, having recently worked for ten years as the recreation and program coordinator at the City of Kissimmee. “Our facility offers unique services that makes us stand out,” Ortiz stated. “Kid Watch” is a service to members with children. Staff will watch a member’s child while they workout. The Peloton bikes in our spin room and lap pool also set us apart,” Ortiz mentioned.
Several recreation aides help provide exceptional membership service and maintain the center.
