Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development celebrated the grand opening of Wales Pointe Restaurant and Bar located at 207 East Park Avenue in the historic downtown district.
Fans of the recently opened Wales Pointe restaurant rave about the food, live music and Sunday brunch specials. Some already call Wales Pointe a community meeting spot.
Owner Tiffany Davis – retired from a military service career with the U.S. Army chose Lake Wales as a place to settle down and open her restaurant.
“My dream was to bring diversity into the city, bring something from everywhere I’ve lived in my life,” Davis said. “And, I also have a love for music, I wanted something not so wild and rambunctious, but more laid back, so we’ve incorporated my diverse food background with my love of jazz and blues.”
Eggs Benedict with shrimp, has quickly become a signature dish for the brunch crowd. All food is cooked to order and homemade, including everything from the chicken and tuna salad right down to the tartar sauce. Reuben sandwiches have proven to be the most popular lunch item so far.
With assistance from the Lake Wales Community Redevelopment Agency’s Restaurant Incentive program and a Small Business Administration’s Restaurant Revitalization grant, Wales Pointe opened officially on Dec. 13.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Wales Pointe to downtown Lake Wales,” CRA Assistant Director Karen Thompson said. “One of the main reasons the restaurant incentive was created was to help ‘turn the lights on’ in downtown after 5 p.m. The live entertainment they’ve planned on a consistent basis will provide an evening destination for those ‘hungry’ for socializing, dancing and date nights.”
City officials are excited that the restaurant will serve as another cornerstone to the redevelopment of the historic downtown area which is being guided by the award-winning Lake Wales Connected plan.
Wales point is open Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Tuesdays, open Wednesdays for dinner only from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursdays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
