Upcoming Roadway Closure

City Administration Posted on March 31, 2022

Third Street will be closed permanently to vehicle traffic starting Wednesday, April 6 at 9 a.m. for the construction of the Park Avenue Connector Trail. It will reopen for non-vehicular public use in winter 2022. Cypress Garden Lane and Scenic Highway may be used as alternate routes.  

The Park Avenue Connector Trail is a 3000-foot multiuse trail that connects Lake Wailes Park to the historic downtown district at Scenic Highway and E. Crystal Avenue.

Key components of the trail include:

  • Multiuse trail
  • Scenic overlook
  • Contemporary landscaping
  • Trail lighting
  • Parallel parking
  • Calming zone
