Plans are in motion to keep the recreation facility open

City Administration Posted on July 24, 2023

Plans are in motion to keep the Lake Wales recreation facility open after the West Central Florida YMCA departs in October. City Manager James Slaton wants members to stay assured as City staff works towards a seamless transition.

Staff recently met with consultants who specialize in designing floor plans for gyms and fitness rooms.

The City has also invested more than $200,000 enhancing the pool. It’s been under construction for several months, as crews resurfaced and painted the bottom of the pool. It’s ready just in time for this year’s swim lessons.

Staff will keep citizens updated as more information becomes available. Stay connected with us social media. Subscribe to us on Nextdoor and sign up to receive the City’s digital newsletter.
