What’s like gardening but without the heat or dirt? Helping kids learn to be better readers, as a ReadingPals volunteer. That’s right: you can read to children for an hour a week, indoors, and watch them grow and bloom. Reading literacy is the top indicator of academic success, but barely 50% of children are minimally proficient by the 3rd grade. ReadingPals is a program of the United Way of Central Florida.
