Critter Tales, Black-and-White Warbler

City Administration Posted on September 08, 2023

Black-and-white Warblers are popular songbirds, but they often play hard to get. The shy birds tend to forage along tree limbs or near shrubs and remain out of sight. They usually build nests on the ground but choose hidden areas, such as fallen logs, tree stumps, or under shrubbery. Warblers mostly eat insects and spiders, and they typically turn their beaks up at traditional bird seed. You might want to try bark butter on a tree, berry and nut suet, or sunflower chips if you want to attract these high-pitched singers to your yard.
