Parent’s Night Out

Parent’s, ready for some downtime? We now host “Parent’s Night Out” at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center. Simply drop off your kid(s) every 2nd & 4th Friday of the month, between 6pm to 9pm. Kids will have access to various activities, board games and food and beverages. The program is facilitated by designated City staff members. $15 for the first child. $8 for each additional sibling. Kids ages kindergarten to 5th grade. Registration is required at the front desk on day prior to the event.

Family Game Night

Join us for “Family Game Night” at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center on February 22nd between 5pm to 7:30pm. The event costs $5 per person for city residents. $8 per person for non-city residents (includes food and beverage). It's a great opportunity to play board games with your family, or team up and play other families. 20+ multiplayer board games are available. Can’t make it this Thursday? “Family Game Night” will take place every Thursday. Registration is required and payment must be paid online.

Adult Art Class

Looking to express your creative talents? Mixed-media Drawing & Painting Classes are now available. Join us every second Wednesday between 10:30am to 11:30am at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center. Locally know artist, Toni Doku will introduce participants to techniques in mixed-media painting and textiles. The class is for adults 18 and up – $10 per person. KidWatch is available for parents with children ages two to 12 years old – free service.

Paint n' Sip

Grab a corkscrew and your favorite bottle of wine! Join us for our “Paint n’ Sip” meetup event at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center on June 29th (citrus still life theme) between 4:30 to 6pm. The event is hosted through a partnership with the Lake Wales Arts Council. Painting supplies will be provided. Registration is required via the weblink, or you may register in person at the recreation center one day prior to the event. $35 per person – ages 21 and older. Bring Your Own Bottle (wine and non-alcoholic beverages only; NO LIQUOR).

Learn how to scuba dive with certified instructors! Participants will learn the basic skills and techniques associated with the sport during a five-day training series. Classes take place Monday, September 30th to Friday, October 4th. The cost is $495 plus tax. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Consent waivers are required.  Participants must supply their own mask, snorkel, fins and a twelve-pound dive weight/surface marker buoy. Five-day training series: 

Monday, Sept. 30th: Participants will get orientated with the program and take a swimming test in Lakeland, FL at Off the Wall Adventures, 2055 Shepherd Rd. 

Tuesday, Oct. 1: Participants will learn underwater skills and techniques in the pool at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center.

 Wednesday, Oct. 2: Participants will learn underwater skills and techniques in the pool at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center.

Thursday, Oct. 3: Participants will travel with instructors to Lake Denton, FL and apply their skills underwater in Lake Denton. Location: 533 Lake Denton Rd. Avon Park FL 33825

Friday, Oct. 4: Participants will travel with instructors to the Gulf of Mexico and apply their skills in the ocean. Location: 200 E. 13th St. West Palm Beach FL 33404
